Binding leather, rebacked retaining original boards but with new back strip and new endpapers. With full-page coloured maps of Europe, North America, South America and Europe, and portraits of monarchs etc. Includes “An Epitome of the History of England”, a “Short Essay on the Origin and Antiquity of the English Tongue”, and other ‘extras’. Condition: Frontis of William IV ragged, with much loss, especially to caption and bottom margin, laid on to new blank. Frontis (Britannia instructing her sons) has been over zealously trimmed, with some loss to top edge of image. Portrait of Edward the Black Prince has been repaired. Age-tanning and some spotting to pages; foxing to some of the plates. Binding sound. Boards rubbed and chipped.
