Red cloth-covered boards, half leather, top edges red tinted, other edges uncut (untrimmed), 97 pages plus list of contents and a fold-out chart detailing the growth in finances of the Association from its foundation in 1854. The activity of this association comprises a significant part of the history of the development of steam technology. There are sections on Experiments on Boilers, The Boiler Explosion Acts, Recent Progress and on Insurance Companies. There Is a Presentation Label to JH Bell Esq. To the front paste down, from the president and committee of the Association. JH Bell is included in the list of those present at the Jubilee Celebration, and is described as Director of Messrs Cochrane and Co (Annan), Boilermakers. Condition: Cloth lifting in places from boards, leather rubbed, spine strip chipped at the top. Front board slightly warped. Some age-tanning to the prelims and earlier pages. Hinge strained at title page. The illustrations (portraits) are in very good condition, and protected by tissue guards.
