Ranging in time and space from the Stone Age in Palestine, the Tigris-Euphrates Valley, Sumer, Akkad and Egypt through to a history of ancient India and a chapter on “The Cretan Problem”. Written just before Michael Ventris’s publication of his solution to the problem of Linear B, this chapter includes discussion of interpretations of Cretan inscriptions. Condition: Boards sound but bumped at corners and faded. Binding strained at one point, otherwise firm. Pages for the most part clean and bright, but one page has some staining on it and some have ticks or crosses to the margins. Dust jacket worn and tatty.
