Further Details

Complete, three volumes. Volume 3 is described as ‘Second Series’, with title ‘…From the Year 1600’ (rather than 1650) and dated 1901. Ochre-coloured cloth-covered boards, gilt tiles, head of lion in gilt to front board of each volume. Volume 3 has top edges gilt. Many illustrations, all present as called for. Arranged alphabetically, Volumes 1 and 2 running from Alken to Wootton and Volume 3 from Agasse to Zeitter. Condition: Boards grubby and rubbed, and the uncut (ie untrimmed) fore-edges and bottom edges of text block inevitably somewhat soiled. Cloth lifting from boards a little on Volume 1 and more pronounced on Volume 2. There is also a some damage to the lion portrait of Volume 2. Binding strained in one or two places, but overall internally clean and sound.
