With the author’s visiting card (“Sir Napier Shaw”, “10, Moreton Gardens, S.W.5” and “Athenaeum”) pasted in to front paste down; there is a handwritten gift inscription on this card: “Miss E.E. Austin. To see how time passes”. Miss E E Austin was Napier Shaw’s secretary from July 1918, and was his executor after his death. She herself was a Cambridge graduate in mathematics and natural sciences. This edition has a supplementary note on Sixteen Years’ Progress inn Forecasting Weather, by R G K Lempfert. Grey dust jacket in protective wrapper, dark blue cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine, folding chart facing title page, many illustrations, weather maps etc, 644 pages. Condition: Some wear to dust jacket, light foxing to prelims and last few pages, to fore-edges and to top edges of text block. Some of the external foxing has crept in to the margins of the pages.
