Publication numbered No 392. ‘Compiled in the Intelligence Branch, Division of the Chief of the Staff, Army Head Quarters, India’. Ex-library, but the library stamps are now almost illegible, so it is very difficult to say from which library. One of the stamps says ‘Calcutta’. Another has a hand written date of receipt, 6-8-09. The book gives an account of a punitive expedition against the Zakka Khel Afridis of the Bazar Valley in 1908. Condition: This volume is clearly the result of a salvage operation on a very distressed book. Rebound, red cloth-covered boards, blue cloth spine, new end papers. 49 pp in all, sadly lacking its maps. Original half title page, title page and rear pages laid on to new paper. Library stamps throughout. Pages have considerable wormhole damage, although with no loss of text; however one more than usually enthusiastic library stamp has obliterated a few words at the bottom of page 3. Very difficult to grade, as the conservation work has produced a sound copy from what must have been near book-wreckage. A tentative ‘good’.
