Known in English as ‘The Devil Upon Two Sticks’. Undated, but almost certainly mid to late eighteenth century. No title page. Two volumes bound in one, together with ‘Entretiens Serieux et Comiques sur les Cheminees de Madrid’, ‘Les Bequilles du Diable Boiteux’ and a Table of Contents. Pocket-sized, leather, 13.5 cm by 7.5 cm. Dedicatory preface to Luis Velez de Guevara with an engraved frontispiece illustrating de Guevara’s ‘El Diablo Coiuelo’ to Volume I, and also a frontispiece to the ‘Entretiens’. Condition: Leather worn but sound, binding firm. Some over-zealous trimming to later pages, but with no loss.
