Further Details

A book with two separate stated aims: firstly, “to demonstrate the origins and development of the Macedonian problem by arranging and presenting the evidence to the best possible advantage with the aid of cartographic devices” and secondly “to use the Macedonian maps to exemplify the characteristics of ethnographic maps in general”. Ex-library with relatively discreet library stamps: ownership stamp to front paste down, small stamp to title page, acquisition/cataloguing stamp to verso of title page. Blue cloth-covered boards, gilt motif to front board, gilt titles to spine, tidy library shelf mark also gilt, 366 pages, coloured frontispiece. The many maps, tables etc include 9 folding sheets, with sample titles: “Twelve views on the Distribution of the Turks, 1730-1944”, “Twelve Non-Greek Views on the Distribution of the Greeks, 1847-1944”, etc. Condition: Library stamps as described above, some bumping and dust-soiling to the boards, a little age toning to the margins, otherwise internally clean and bright. Folding maps in excellent condition.
