Further Details
Red cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine. A book written for a time when travel to and within Greece was still an adventure. With much detail on roads, accommodation etc., but also some photographic illustrations of people and places. Redolent with nostalgia, for those of you old enough to remember Greece of the 60s and 70s. Of the road from Igoumenitsa to Preveza: “The road is a mule track, and very hard on mules”. Of that from Kalambaka to Metsovo: “I scaled this track in a Fiat 600 during a violent thunderstorm: I have felt safer boarding a ship by rope ladder during a swell in Liverpool Bay”. Condition: Boards rubbed and bumped, with the cloth fading. Pencil annotations to the practical sections- this book has clearly been on at least one journey.
