Prepared at the Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master-General’s Department, War Office, 1882. Previous owners’ names (at least two clearly military) to title page. Red blind-stamped boards, gilt titles to front board, start of list of military books from Her Majesty’s Stationery Office across front end papers, then 166 pages, 22 charts, then remainder of list of books on military subjects and finally two pages listing other works from the same Intelligence Branch. The charts (many folding) are mostly showing symbol conventions used on maps of interest to the Military- eg Military Works, Troops and Establishments for Austria. Large octavo (9.7″) in size. Condition: Boards a little bumped and rubbed, pages clean and unmarked, marks from creasing to corners of a few pages. Some material (catalogue slips for two related books, and a chart of map scale conversions) have been tipped in to front free end paper using translucent tape.
