Further Details
With illustrations by H. K. Browne (Phiz). “The descriptions of boy-life in the streets, the habits and customs of donkey-drivers, the peculiarities of tramp-dom and vagrancy, have all resulted from long and patient enquiries among the individuals themselves. They are actual records of the earnings and conditions of these peculiar classes among the uncivilised of London.” A series of mini biographies of London’s poorest in the second half of the 19th century. Binding is half leather on marbled boards. Condition: Good rather than very good as the leather is considerably worn and rubbed and the edges of the boards knocked and worn. Binding sound and firm; some pages rather grubby. All plates present (although there is a misprint in the list of illustrations), but some have lost their tissue guards.
