Twenty-second edition. Soft leather covers, gilt titles to front cover (decorated with blind-stamped border), all edges gilt, 763 pages; advertisements to front (12 pages) and to rear (one leaf before 7 lined, blank sheets for notes, thereafter one leaf of advertisements plus one more pasted to the rear pocket); small book, landscape format, 120 mm by 78 mm in size. Publisher’s miniature catalogue (Books Relating to Applied Science) in pocket to rear. Not only a book of formulae and calculating methods but with useful facts for the engineer; for example, the section on breakwaters includes depth of water and construction details for ports including Marseilles, Algiers and Port Said. A section on railway regulations has a section headed Regulations for Construction of Prussian Railways and Rolling Stock. Condition: Leather worn, binding a little slack, elastic retaining band lacking (apart from stubs poking out from the sleeve for it on the back cover), one of the notepaper sheets has become detached, nevertheless a clean, entire copy with no major faults. The first page of notepaper has been used for pencil sketches.
