Half leather on red cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on black labels to spine. Paginated title page etc to iv, Report (v-ix), Minutes of Proceedings at each Sitting of the Committee (x-xxiv), Minutes of Evidence (1-150), Appendix (151-156).The questions covered by the report and its investigations included the acquisition of land for generating stations, especially the possibility of compulsory purchase, whether or not permission should be given for the development of electrical supplies across local authorities and using high voltages, and if so to consider questions of construction and location. It therefore, arguably, marks the beginning of the modern electrical supply system in Great Britain. Condition: The leather is very scuffed indeed, and the back board rubbed and stained, from water or chemical splashes. There is a stubborn chalk mark on the back board. Internally, the pages are clean and sound, although there is some pencil emphasising and underlining, especially to the first two pages of the Report.
