Dark blue cloth-covered boards, gilt decoration and titles to front board and spine, marbled end papers, coloured embellishment to pages (top margin), illustrations from photographs. Engraving- Griffin’s Public Library, Glasgow 1921- preceding half title, portrait of Francis J Blight (Griffin’s Chairman at time of publication) to verso of half title, both this page and the title page much decorated. Many chapters have a small portrait of a relevant worthy as a vignette. Condition: Boards a little bumped and rubbed but still a bright, attractive copy. Some blotchiness to the first page of the Foreword, thereafter clean and bright. Binding strained at one point.
