Biography of a woman who was born in 1877 the daughter of (as the fly-leaf has it) “a nihilistically-minded ex-pope of the Orthodox Church”, who converted to Islam in Algeria, who lived her adult life as a man and who died in floods at the age of 27. Condition: Dust jacket very tatty, boards show fading/bleaching, but internally clean and unmarked. A sound reading copy; photographic illustrations are in very good condition.
