Further Details

Revised (2nd) edition; Royal Octavo in size. Red boards, gilt titles to front board and spine, blind-stamped decoration to front board, maps across end papers, many illustrations, including two colour plates (vases etc), 291 pages including index, fore-edges uncut (untrimmed). Although the majority of the photographs are of artefacts in museums, there are also several early photographs of archaeological sites, showing them before the expansions of the towns and cities in which so many stand (the Parthenon, the Temple of Nike, a general view of a very rural-looking Acropolis, remains at Ancient Corinth etc). Condition: Spine faded, boards rather rubbed/worn at corners, some foxing. Illustrations clean; binding sound.
