Co-editor Nathan H. Allen. Black cloth-covered bevelled boards, gilt and red decoration and titles to boards, gilt titles to spine, all edges tinted red. List of Contents to p xii, Introduction xiii to xxvii (including translations of Luther’s own four successive Prefaces), then the hymns page 1-71. The hymns are typically presented with the music first, with English words of the first verse set, and then all verses below or on the facing page in German (1st column) and English (2nd column). A beautiful volume. Condition: Light foxing to front free end paper. Pencil price and date to front free end paper. There is a little soiling to page 3 (margin), some to pages 4 and 5, and a pencil cross against the hymn on page 4 and that on page 6, and other smudges here and there to the margins. Although this book has been cared for it has clearly been used.
