In the “Shown to the Children” Series. Undated but clearly 1920s. Blue cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to front board and spine, illustration pasted on to front board, 126 pages. The very many illustrations from photographs (yellow-tinted) give fascinating glimpses of working life during this period. Condition: The boards are bumped and rubbed, and there is more decided rubbing to the edges of the rear board. However externally the book is still a pleasing item to handle; internally, it is in excellent condition. The photographs are clean and bright, the pages unmarked and the silk marker still present.
